Doula Speed Dating

Considering hiring a doula to help support your labor and/ or postpartum journey? Join us for a super fun Doula Speed Dating Event where expecting families can meet five amazing Lake Norman Area doulas!

What are the benefits of doula support?

-- Having a doula can decrease the need for pharmacological pain medication by 25% --

They can also help provide:

PHYSICAL SUPPORT- by suggesting position changes, providing hands on support, offering food/ drink, and more! Also, mom wouldn't be left alone if her partner needs to take a break or grab something to eat.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT- by "mothering the mothering." Mom is being nurtured and cared for which helps her feel safe and supported during her labor. Feeling supported and safe can help decrease or elimate any fear or anxiety she may be having and help her labor progress more effectively.

PARTNER SUPPORT- by helping the father or birth partner feel involved in the birth process, talk them through any medical interventions that may arise with mom or baby, and overall help decrease their fear and anxiety as well.

ADVOCACY- while doulas a not medically trained, they have a basic understanding of birth and the potential medical interventions involved. They can help families ask questions, express concerns, and feel empowered when making informed medical decisions. They can also help be a voice for the family when advocating for their birth preferences, so mom and her partner can focus on just the labor process.

Doulas may also provide additional services like postpartum support, placenta encapsulation, photography, and more!

Having continuous doula support during labor has statically been shown to improve birth outcomes for moms and babies. At The Boobtiqe, we believe strongly in the amazing benefit that doulas can provide and recommend them to all of the families we serve. Knowing which doula is the best fit for you and your needs can feel overwhelming. Come join us for a "Doula Speed Date" where you will have the opportunity to get to know and connect with FIVE amazing Lake Norman Area doulas. Families will rotate between doulas every 15 minutes. At the end of the 75 minutes, families will have the opportunity to circle back to the doula(s) they felt the strongest connection with for the remainder of the event.
