What are the benefits of doula support?
-- Having a doula can decrease the need for pharmacological pain medication by 25% --
They can also help provide:
PHYSICAL SUPPORT- by suggesting position changes, providing hands on support, offering food/ drink, and more! Also, mom wouldn't be left alone if her partner needs to take a break or grab something to eat.
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT- by "mothering the mothering." Mom is being nurtured and cared for which helps her feel safe and supported during her labor. Feeling supported and safe can help decrease or elimate any fear or anxiety she may be having and help her labor progress more effectively.
